City of Palaces - arrived in WA in 1857 SOURCES

This ship sailed from Singapore and arrived in Fremantle in the Swan River Colony on August 8, 1857 with 4 convicts [Erickson].

The convicts were all soldiers and sailors who had been found guilty by Court Martial in India and sentenced to transportation.

There were no deaths recorded on the convict shipping and description lists and 4 convict numbers were assigned for the voyage ranging from (4501 to 4504).

There were no pensioner guards or passengers accompanying the convicts on their journey to Western Australia.

The following list is an alphabetically sorted list of the names associated with each of the 4 convict numbers assigned to this voyage. The comments field gives alternative names attributed to the various convicts. They are not only spelling variations, but alternative names used in later life or in subsequent re-convictions. The age quoted seems to refer to the age of the convict when he was taken to trial.
