General Godwin - arrived in WA in 1854 SOURCES

This ship sailed from Calcutta in India and arrived in Fremantle in the Swan River Colony on March 28, 1854 with 13 passengers and 15 convicts on board [Erickson].

The convicts were all soldiers who had been found guilty by Court Martial in India and sentenced to transportation.

There were no deaths recorded on the convict shipping and description lists and 15 convict numbers were assigned for the voyage ranging from (2611 to 2625).

There were no pensioner guards among the 13 passengers who accompanied the convicts on their journey to Western Australia.

The following list is an alphabetically sorted list of the names associated with each of the 15 convict numbers assigned to this voyage. The comments field gives alternative names attributed to the various convicts. They are not only spelling variations, but alternative names used in later life or in subsequent re-convictions. The age quoted seems to refer to the age of the convict when the passenger list was created.
