Born Woodford, Northampton, Benjamin EATON worked as a groom at Woodford house. Married to Mary Ann HARRIS. In 1851 he was charged and found guilty of setting a haystack alight. He denied the charge, but was found guilty by evidence of large shoe prints with particular markings which led to his home and matched his large feet. Detained on the hulk "Defence" until 17 Nov 1852 when he was sent to West Australia. Granted Ticket of Leave in 1854. His wife and 5 children followed in 1855. Lived in Albany, WA, died of cancer in 1863, buried in Pioneer Cemetary in Albany.
