My g-grandfather, William HATCH, was born 27th 1826 in Bramshaw, Wiltshire, parents David and Amila. Was convicted in Winchester 2/1/1849 for sheep stealing. Sentence 7 yrs. The 1st 2yrs were served in the hulks. Arrived in Fremantle WA per the Minden 18th Oct 1851. Ticket of leave issued before docking. Worked out his sentence for a Mr Padbury at Moore River. Given permission to marry Mary Flynn of Galway on the 14th Dec 1856. Term exspired 1st Jan 1856. Buying properties in 1863 and 68 they established themselves as well loved and respected citizens of the Moore River district.

Mary died in 1901 and William in 1908.
